CITY TRANSIT

ROUTES
  • High Speed Roads (connects cities, places, other routes, or other significant points of interest)
    • Freeway (elimination of at-grade intersections and all cross traffic- no traffic lights or stop signs)
    • Expressway (divided highway with at least partial control of access- limits frequency of driveways and intersection cross streets)
    • Parkway
  • Low Capacity Roads (provides access to and from other roads)
    • Frontage Road
    • Arterial Road (moderate or high-capacity road immediately below a highway level of service- lack of residential entrances directly onto the road except in older or denser communities- generally serviced by commercial areas)
    • Collector Road (low/moderate capacity- leads traffic from local roads or sections of neighborhoods to activity areas within communities- schools, churches, recreational facilities found on these roads)
    • Local Road (minor road in a network, typically leading off a main road)
    • Road, Street
    • Lane, Driveway, Cul-de-sac, court
    • Alley (generally pedestrian use only between houses)
